Get Involved with Sustainable South Jersey

There are many ways to connect with our work and support sustainability in South Jersey. Whether you’d like to volunteer occasionally, contribute your skills on a committee, or explore joining our Board, we’re excited to welcome you.

Become a Volunteer

Volunteers play a core role in our work and help bring our events and programs to life. You can participate as often as you’d like, and no on going commitment is
required.

Volunteers help, as-needed for opportunities through the year, with:

  • Registration and check-in at events
  • Event set-up/ clean-up
  • Tabling and community outreach
  • Festival and community event support
  • Park cleanups and community projects
  • Sharing special skills (graphic design, photography, data, etc.)

Join a Committee

Our committees help share programs, events, outreach, and the overall direction of SSJ. Committee members meet periodically, contribute to projects, and support the Board with hands-on work.

Current committees include
  • Sponsorship Committee: Develops fundraising strategies and seeks
    donors and sponsors to ensure Sustainable South Jersey has the resources
    it needs, including organizing fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Community Engagement & Events Committee: Plans and hosts events that build community connections and support sustainability education, such as cleanups, meetups, and public programs.
  • Marketing & Communications Committee: Manages the organization’s messaging, including social media, email, and promotional materials, to raise awareness of SSJ’s mission and activities.
  • Volunteer Coordination Committee: Recruits, organizes, and supports volunteers for SSJ programs and events, ensuring volunteers feel welcomed, prepared, and appreciated.

Interested in joining the Board?

Our Board Members provide leadership, strategic oversight, and guidance for SSJ’s mission. Members:
  • Attend monthly Board meetings
  • Participate in at least one committee
  • Support fundraising and community engagement

We welcome individuals who bring enthusiasm, diverse perspectives, and a commitment to sustainability in South Jersey.

Submit an entry in the Board Interest Form to be considered. A member of the Board will
follow up to discuss next steps.
